VA Compensation Calculator — Update 1.26.10

Version 1.26.10 of the VA Compensation Calculator is rolling out on the App Store. This one adds a Symptom Log for building claim evidence over time, fills out the Special Monthly Compensation ladder, makes Backpay handle life changes, and moves feedback out of a Google form and into the app.

Symptom Log — evidence, not a verdict

Many conditions are rated on how often something happens and how long it lasts — migraines on the frequency of prostrating attacks (DC 8100), epilepsy on seizure frequency, asthma on attack frequency. If it only flares once a month, it’s hard to prove months later at a C&P exam.

The new Symptom Log lets you record each episode as it happens — start time, duration, severity, symptoms, whether you sought care, and whether it was prostrating. The app then summarizes it in the same language the rating criteria use (“6 episodes · 4 prostrating · ~2 / month · last 90 days”) and lets you share a clean report as text or PDF with your VSO or provider.

To be clear about what this is: the app logs and summarizes — it never rates or diagnoses. Summaries may reference rating-criteria language for context, but they always present your own data, not a determination.

• Log episodes for migraines, seizures, breathing or GI flare-ups, mental-health episodes, chronic-pain flares, and more.
• Open a condition’s log straight from its row in My Disabilities, or from the main Symptom Log screen.
• Logging a brand-new condition? You can optionally add it to My Disabilities (Pending, 0%) so it’s ready to track — and search the 38 CFR diagnostic codes right there to tag it correctly.
• Your episodes and their summaries stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

The full Special Monthly Compensation ladder

SMC now covers the complete awardable ladder — K, S, L, L½, M, M½, N, N½, O/P, R.1, R.2, and T — with the intermediate levels added this release. Rates were sourced from VA.gov for both 2025 and 2026 and cross-checked against the levels the app already supported, so estimates at the higher and in-between levels are more accurate.

Backpay that follows your life

Retroactive awards often span a stretch where your household changed — a marriage, a new child. Backpay now lets you add dated life events so the estimate uses the right dependent rate for each part of the period, instead of assuming today’s dependents applied the whole time.

Contact Me — off the Google form

The old “Send Feedback” link bounced you to a Google form in a browser. It’s now a native Contact Me screen that sends straight to my own server — no Google, no third-party data mining. Report a bug, ask a question, or suggest a feature without leaving the app, and add an email only if you’d like a reply.
